Counselling
Focuses on current crises in our daily lives: relationship issues, family problems, a death, illness, problems at work. It offers support and understanding in coming to terms with a variety of life issues. Counselling is mainly short term and can last from 6 - 20 sessions.
People consult a counsellor when a problem exists in their lives. Sometimes one session will be sufficient but more often six to twelve sessions will help to develop the inner strength, insight and change. Strengths developed in therapy will help to support all aspects of the person's life so that life can be lived with greater satisfaction and fulfilment.
The counselling space is safe and confidential. Counselling work includes individual sessions, parenting and relationship work. People are frequently curious when they consult a counsellor. The first session is usually about describing the problem and developing a relationship with the counsellor. Client and counsellor will agree on how to work together to achieve the outcome the client wishes. Preliminary work on the problem will commence in the first session
